Deception 76 and Deception 77 (May 2011), were about "Aliens" and I believe most definitely associated with this abomination. What you are reading is what I was considering at that time. I read an article entitled with the above name at arcticbeacon.com/greg/?p=1602 (I do not recommend the website). It gave details about how this abomination came to pass. There is a quote there from Popular Science which says that the name Lucifer means, "morning star." That is lie. Jesus Christ is the morning star. Abominations like the NIV attribute that designation to Lucifer. There is a discussion about this at NIV call Lucifer "Jesus".
Back to the University of Arizona article...one Catholic in the comments section said that Catholics worldwide are upset about this. Hopefully, many finally leave the whore as a result of this. The person who wrote the commentary (along with others) is writing letters of petition instead of fleeing. He said that this move by would give more ammunition to Protestants...I mention this only to show that this thing is known and not some obscure event. I then went to the University of Arizona website to confirm the veracity of the article. A cursory look at their website yielded articles on the telescope called Lucifer #1 and, near the end of a brochure on their website, it had a captioned picture of the Vatican Observatory. It was a bold move indeed to unabashedly name that telescope as they did. I think that I read that "Lucifer" is staffed with Jesuit astronomers, but this is not confirmed. I read that Rome owns many observatories. I read that Mt. Graham, where that devil telescope sits is a sacred spot for a certain tribe of Native Americans and is a portal for spirits.

***EMERGING FROM AMONGST HIS PIT OF FOLLOWERS***
We are here in the last times and the devil is quickly and decisively coming out of hiding. I've read that for many centuries, the actual worship of the dragon has been hidden behind the walls of secret societies and various groups. We already know from the Bible that there is a Satan, sorcerers, magicians, witches, necromancers, astrologers, monthly prognosticators, familiar spirits, devils, unclean spirits, etc. In the earth there are heretics, hypocrites, mystics, gnostics, kabbalists, knights templar, masons (not all members of these groups have all the high knowledge of that in which they are involved). There are also mason-type societies outside of western nations, e.g., the Sufis in the Muslim and Arab world).
Occult groups often show one face (exoteric) to the outside ignorant world and have another face (esoteric) for their members. Even their own initiates cannot see all of that filth at once. They must be tested and proved before they can get to the higher levels and see what the organization really is. They take the initiates to the devil step by step--degree by degree. [Aside: To me, the school system does the same thing...kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade... I found it full of shocks and initiations which grew progressively worse, college being the worst of all. I can remember being in high school, standing near my little car and feeling like I was on a huge snowball rolling downhill at breakneck speed and was powerless to get off of it. Unbeknownst to me, I'd be slain a few years later after more conditioning through tv, books, conversations, college, peer pressure, etc.]
Jesuits have their "spiritual exercises." According to Alberto Part Four "The Force" (part of the illustrated testimony of former Jesuit Dr. Alberto Rivera, Chick Publications copyright 1983), page 25,
"No group of men ever went deeper into the occult than the Jesuits."Their intense study of witchcraft and its branches took them closer and closer to Satan. They use Transendental Meditation* and all forms of Buddhism.
"Today they work with witch doctors worldwide, selling them holy water.
"July 8, 1980, A.P. indicated Pope John Paul II does not object to voodoo-like African-based spirit cults which permeates Catholicism. He feels that once purified, these cults can help spread the gospel of Christ."

***WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR?***
In terms of observatories, what are they looking for? What were the ancient magicians, astrologers, stargazers, monthly prognosticators (ref. Is 47:13) looking for as they gazed into firmament? [Aside: The word "astrologer" came up eight times when I looked it up on an online KJV search engine. All eight times it had to do with Babylon. The Bible reveals the great whore as MYSTERY, *BABYLON* THE GREAT. Isaiah 47 (similar to Rev. 17) identifies her as the daughter of Babylon. She has amalgamated and kept alive all abominable practices--in this case astrology. Nebuchadnezzar's image was but one image--four kingdoms, but they are one--Babylon, Medes-Persians, Greece, Rome] The ancients were often looking to worship, to get answers, to foretell the future. We read a lot about the worship of the host of heaven in the Old Testament. Stephen speaks of it in Acts 7 when reviewing the rebellion of Israel in Acts 7:40-43--
Acts 7:42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?Acts 7:43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
Considerations...the stars as gods to be worshipped...Acts 14:13 tells of the priest of Jupiter who was a god of the Romans. Romans also worshipped other star/planet--Mercury, Venus, Mars, Pluto, Saturn, etc. Why expend so much effort in stargazing--I perceive that the astronomy that we see today is not solely scientific. From some quarters, it is occultic. It would be better named astrology, not astronomy, and is conducted by educated wizards and sorcerers. What are they looking for as they gaze out? What were the ancient astrologers looking for? Their gods? signs? I have no hard and fast answers. This page may be updated at some point.
***MORE CONSIDERATIONS***
Ancient observatories...High place ziggaurats have been found in a number of places in the world. They may have been observatories. We know that ancient astronomers had remarkable skill in reading the heavens. We also know that the ancients worshipped the host of heaven--that may have been the primary reason for their keen interest in astronomy. A search on "ziggaurats" will often yield results focusing on Mesopotamia (the region of Assyria and Babylon, modern day Iraq) as well as Elam (Medes-Persians, modern day Iran); however, ziggaurats are found in various locations in both the eastern and western hemispheres--as if some lingering memory of Babel remained amongst some peoples after they were scattered upon the earth. Some people thought that the ziggaraut was a place for their god to come down (I do not remember the name of this location). Teotihuacan, a city in Mexico with multiple ziggaraut-type edifices, means "the place where men become gods." This reminds me of Satan's words to Eve in Genesis 3:5--
Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:Genesis 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Ye shall be as gods... People in these occult organizations seem to believe Satan's lie that they can be gods and do whatever they want to--and they order their group around filth, blasphemy and heresy. They have chosen to give themselves over, step by step, sin by sin, degree by degree, to Satan--and in the end actually find themselves face to face with the devil who was the spirit encouraging them their whole journey long, even when they did not know it. Hell is real and they will burn forever if they do not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
***CONCLUSION***
I do not like writing about the adversary himself but at this hour I find it unavoidable. The devil is making his appearance but I don't walk around thinking hard about these things and neither do I do more than cursory research in these areas. Hopefully, those that read these articles will let this be enough and will do no further research.
Daniel 11 teaches us that in these times, they that know their God shall be strong (not weak) and do exploits. The Bible teaches that the thing to fear is the day of the Lord when he returns--his judgment about each of us is 100% accurate and will admit no appeals so now is the time to make sure that we are in right standing with him--
Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.Luke 21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
