***** TRUE CHRISTIANS FORM A NATION OF PRIESTS *****

True Christians form an holy priesthood--this is actual and real, not in theory. We know this because the Bible says that we are an holy priesthood. If we are true Christians, we also know this in our own lives; it is reality. We get saved and proceed to grow in the Lord--it does not take a long time. It is a natural growth just as a baby goes from a newborn infant to walking in about a year's time. Children grow up--and so do true Christians.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

1 Peter 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

1 Peter 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

We have come to the Lord Jesus Christ, as unto a living stone, and we as lively stones are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ (ref. I Peter 2:3-5) and to shew the praises of him who hath called us out of darkness into his marvellous light (ref. I Peter 2:9).

We are an holy nation (ref. I Peter 2:9).

NATION, n. [to be born] ...Nation, as its etymology imports, originally denoted a family or race of men descended from a common progenitor...

We are descended from the Lord Jesus Christ who has redeemed us with his precious blood (ref. I Peter 1:18-19) and called us with an holy calling (ref. II Timothy 1:9). As a royal priesthood, we are to follow his steps.

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

1 Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

We are to be holy.

1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

1 Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

In the Old Testament we learn much about the Levitical priesthood--including why the LORD separated the tribe of Levi.

Deuteronomy 10:8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

As a royal priesthood under the new covenant,

  • we study and bear about God's word,
  • we stand before the Lord to minister to him in prayers and spiritual sacrifices,
  • and we speak to others in his name.

In the Old Testament we see that one of the major functions of the priesthood is to teach the people the difference between the holy and unholy, between the unclean and the clean.

Leviticus 10:10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

Leviticus 10:11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

***** WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE PRIESTHOOD IS NOT BLAMELESS? *****

What happens when the priesthood is not blameless?

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

***** THE PRIESTHOOD IS ENDANGERED BY DEVIATIONS *****

The priesthood is endangered by professed Christians who make a way for their sins in their lives. It is endangered by a multitude of deviations from the truth. Except the Authorized Version had revealed that there is a priesthood, one may not know that it even exists or what it is like even though they are in a church.

Every priest's deviations from the law of God endanger the continuation of the priesthood--

What happens when the professed priest accepts and watches television (no Christian should watch it) and preaches about it or the latest wicked/foolish/etc. news or books?

What happens when the professed priest watches whoremonger movies? [Aside: From what I have personally heard this practice is epidemic among the so-called "pastors."]

What happens when the professed priest believes in--and teaches--a false doctrine leading multitudes to reject the truth when they hear it?

What happens when a professed priest tells a Roman Catholic congregation that both the Authorized Version and the Roman Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible are the "English sacred form"?

And what would happen if every priest embraced the NIV 2011 and its changes to the Bible? The Authorized Version would be forsaken and replaced with corruption. No man would know the truth--each man would be under deception. [Aside for the priests that read this--Do your children (physical and/or spiritual) know the main issues about the scourge of the modern Bible versions? Can they articulate in a sentence or two what the problem is? We must learn to pre-empt those that seek mischief by making the truth known.]

What happens when these corruptions reign in the lives of the visible professed priests? Such a corrupt priesthood transforms what was supposed to be a Christian priesthood into an antichrist priesthood--and those that follow such a priesthood will despise a truly Christian priesthood.

Today, many are the polluted persons in the priesthood. For a price, Bible colleges educate these uncalled and unanointed persons in false doctrines and activities and then churn them out that they may enter the pulpits of various churches throughout the land. Whosoever will pay the price for a Bible college degree can become a pastor. As in the days of Jeroboam, the lowest of the people become priests--

1 Kings 13:33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

Look around--THE PRIESTHOOD IS ENDANGERED.

Isaiah 28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

***** WHAT TO DO *****

In response to this situation, we can, as individual Christians, seek to be the priests that we are called to be. We can--

  • Work with our own hands in completing our daily tasks.
  • Examine ourselves in light of the Authorized Version of the scriptures--examining each part of our lifestyle--and letting that which is lame be healed.
  • Repent of our besetting sins and bring forth fruits meet for repentance.
  • Cleave to the Authorized Version of the scriptures.
  • Consciously search out exactly what we should be doing in this life and verbalize it--things like--
    • working (whether inside or outside of our homes),
    • doing things for ourselves instead constantly depending on the skills of others,
    • reading our Bibles,
    • praying,
    • spending much time with our families working on important family projects (cleaning, gardening, building, cooking, etc.),
    • discussing the Bible and taking meals together,
    • helping others as we have opportunity.

We can also--

  • Shun deviations from the right way.
  • Refuse to compromise the truth on any point. If one must stand alone, stand alone.
  • Study to be quiet, and to do our own business, and to work with our own hands (ref. 1 Thessalonians 4:11).

Each priest must take heed to his ways and his deviations and let that which is lame be healed lest it be turned out of the way. The time to seek righteousness is now, not tomorrow. The visible church has turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine but when men fear the Lord and think upon his name, God is able to restore the years that the locust, the cankerworm, the caterpiller, and the palmerworm have eaten. Those with sticky issues may wish to see our Deliverance Series.

We can be delivered and we shall be delivered.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Daniel 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Daniel 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Daniel 11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

Daniel 11:35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

***** IN CONCLUSION *****

The priesthood is endangered by deviations--and from what I can see, the pattern for the priesthood has long been disappearing from the face of the earth through the allowances of the professed priesthood--but it is yet preserved in the Authorized Version of the scriptures for any disciple to study and seek out.

Every unchallenged personal corruption endangers the priesthood--every sanctified area keeps the priesthood visible and ministering and teaching. We need to seek blamelessness--that is the pattern for the priest and it is possible and required and desirable.

Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1 Timothy 3:10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

1 Timothy 5:7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

Titus 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Titus 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

I have found through personal observation that people that are not blameless do not and cannot tell the truth about their errors--thereby jeopardizing all who listen to them. And when the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Know ye not that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
